About me

I’ve spent my career focused on being useful and bringing value to the teams and organisations I’ve worked with. Growing up in a family business taught me the importance of working together and putting collective goals first. I’m not driven by self-promotion or personal accolades—my choices reflect what’s best for the bigger picture. I bring honesty, a versatile skill set, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions wherever I work.

Away from work

I’m a proud dad of three boys, so I’ve mastered the art of finding calm in chaos. I’m lucky to be supported by my magnificent wife, a leader in her field and my greatest source of inspiration.

Spare time is a rare luxury (did I mention the three kids?), but when the opportunity arises, you’ll find me on the football pitch playing or coaching, enjoying board games, or getting some headspace on long walks.

My character

I’m approachable, easygoing, and so I’m told, a genuinely nice person to work with. Beneath that, I’m a bit of a perfectionist: detail-oriented, practical, and analytically minded. True to my Virgo nature, I care about getting things right and doing so with integrity.

I believe in owning mistakes rather than hiding from them, and in celebrating team success over personal spotlight. My experience has been earned hands-on, not just certified, and I believe that brings deeper credibility.

I treat everyone with respect and judge character over credentials. I thrive in collaborative environments where diverse thinking comes together under a shared purpose, because that’s where the best work truly happens.

Professionalism

Design experience

I’ve been in design for over 17 years, from hands-on creative work to leading teams and shaping product direction across sectors.

Team leadership & growth

I’ve built and led design and product teams from the ground up, supporting people’s growth, encouraging collaboration, and delivering great work together, across teams of 5 to 30, in the UK and globally.

Strategy for delivery

Whether defining product vision or getting into the nitty-gritty of design execution, I bridge the gap between strategy and delivery to create work that moves the needle, like helping ORCHA expand into the US market.

Solving complex problems

I enjoy making sense of messy, data-heavy challenges, especially when user needs are varied or unclear. I use research and design thinking to bring clarity and create simple, effective solutions.

Industry breadth

From leading digital transformation in health tech to creative direction in eCommerce, I’ve worked across public and private sectors — always focused on improving user experiences and driving results.

Principles & Practice

Collaborative environment

I’ve learnt through experience that bridging the gap between creative ideas and commercial objectives is not something you can simply pick up from a book. It’s about honest, credible communication across teams, making sure everyone understands both sides of the equation. Having seen projects through from concept to deployment countless times, I know how to speak the language of both creativity and business to guide my teams towards the best possible outcomes.

Recognising talent and coaching for growth

I believe in the power of honesty and self-awareness when it comes to recognising talent in others. I trust my instincts to spot hidden potential, and with a bit of encouragement and belief, I’ve seen people grow not only in their skills but in their confidence too. For me, it’s always been about hiring for attitude and training for skills, creating a culture where people can learn, evolve, and achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Solving problems with a keen eye for detail

I’ve always been a natural problem solver, it’s something I picked up from my mother, who has a knack for finding the best way forward in any situation. When challenges arise, my mind automatically kicks into gear, searching for better, faster, and more effective solutions. I’m good at anticipating potential hurdles and finding ways to avoid or overcome them. Maybe it’s the Swiss in me, but there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a project run smoothly from start to finish.

Hands-on and ready to help wherever needed

My approach to leadership is to guide from the back, much like a shepherd tending to their flock. I believe in nurturing my team’s confidence and productivity by giving them the support they need to grow. If there’s a gap that needs filling or a role that requires an extra hand, I’m always ready to step in and get my hands dirty. It’s all about doing whatever it takes to help the team succeed.

Resilience and adaptability in a changing world

I’m always open to new ideas, technologies, and trends in the design world. I’ve taught myself every tool I use, often adapting to fit the needs of the situation or the preferences of my team. I truly believe in being flexible and embracing change because that’s what helps us grow and keep up with the fast-paced nature of our industry.
